HIGH SCHOOL :: 9-12

Last night, Tate continued in our series A New Kind of Law addressing the 6 and 7 commandments: thou shalt not kill and thou shalt not commit adultery. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus points the crowd to look inward rather than outward. The common interpretation of the law was that external morality was all God cared about, but Jesus corrected that view saying that He judges based off the heart as well. Murder is then reduced to anger, and adultery is reduced to lust.

Questions to ask ::

Why does God care about your thought-life and not just your actions?
What does it mean to have true faith in Jesus?
Where have you seen anger in your life? Lust?
Why should we try to fight the sin in our life?
What are some things you need to do to fight sin and temptation?
