Sunday Follow Up :: Nov 4

Middle School :: 5/6 and 7/8

At Nitelife this week we continued our discussion through the majors with another lesson on Redemption. The focus this week was on Spiritual Growth. Because of what Jesus accomplished for us on the cross, there is nothing we can do to add to our salvation. We cannot make God love us more or love us less. Our spiritual growth then is not something that is about pressure or performance, but something that God offers as a gift to us. God promises to help us grow to be more like Him because it is truly the best life that we could desire. At the core of our hearts we desire to live like God intended. Now, because of God’s redemption in our lives, we can become more like Him every day.

Questions ::

– Why should we try to grow spiritually if Jesus has already finished everything for us through the cross?
– What is one way that you feel like you have grown spiritually over the last year?
– God helps us grow through the Word of God, the Spirit of God and the People of God. Which of those do you feel helps you most?

Last night Trevor highlighted the value Give in the 5th part of our series, Life to the Full. Too often we find that giving is the only spiritual practice we intentionally avoid. However, Jesus was very clear in His teachings that the Kingdom of Heaven will be inherited by the one who gives generously.

Scripture – Matthew 19:16-26

Questions ::

-Why is it good to give?
-Why did the rich young ruler turn away from Jesus at the end?
-How can you practice giving where you are at right now?
-Do you think God is after your money or is He after your heart?
